Mayo Enlisted by Landlord Association to Update Leases & Forms
The Mayo Law Group PLLC is pleased to announce that Mack Mayo has been hired by the Landlord Association of the Inland Northwest to update its memberships’ leases and forms for use in residential tenancies in Eastern Washington - i.e., not in Seattle or Tacoma, Washington.
On July 28, 2019, the Washington State Legislature enacted the most dramatic amendments to the Residential Landlord-Tenant Act, Chapter 59.18 RCW, et seq., as amended, including requiring 14-day notices (instead of 3-day notices), redefining “rent,” limiting the recovery of attorney’s fees and costs to certain circumstances, expanding judicial discretion to impose payment plans, and enhancing tenants’ rights to reinstate tenancies post-judgment, among other items.
“We are appreciative and honored to be selected by the Landlord Association of the Inland Northwest to ensure legal compliance of its standard forms for its members,” said Mack Mayo. “We look forward to a continuing and evolving partnership to ensure legality and respect of tenants while also protecting the business interests of landlords in the Inland Empire.”
